Content
  • Take into account intended audience
  • Organize content logically (generally put the most important information first)
  • Break information into chunks with useful headings
  • Use simple words where possible; defines unfamiliar terms
  • Use short sentences
  • Use “you” and “we”
  • Use active voice
  • Limit information to most important points
  • Include action steps
Design and Layout
  • Break up dense copy
  • Use descriptive headers
  • Use appropriate fonts
  • Use white space
