Health Communications Internship Program

Eligibility --US citizen --currently enrolled in a graduate school program --background in biomedical or physical sciences combined with communications, health education, health science writing, public relations, epidemiology, or website design or writing.
Notes Deadlines are 9/15 for the January through June term and 3/15 for the July through December term.
Bristol Myers Squibb Health Ministries Pilot Project

Purpose This is a grant funded project. The Goal of this project is to demonstrate the effectiveness of Faith Based Organizations (FBOs) as health promotion vehicles and to improve the health outcomes for members of ten selected FBOs. The objective of this proposal is to create and build the capacities of health ministries within FBOs in Brooklyn
Eligibility College Intern: · Conduct interviews · Administer questionnaires · Initiate and follow up phone calls to selected faith institutions. · Travel to and from selected faith institutions to monitor the progress of health intervention activities. · Identify and compile lists of local, city, state and national health and other resources · Prepare reports on a bi-weekly basis or as needed. · Travel to DOHMH head office (125 Worth Street), The Fund for Public Health of New York Offices (93 Worth Street) and other DOHMH facilities. · Represent OMH in meetings and conferences. Other requirements: · Job may require some night and weekend work. · Since job duties involve interaction with Faith Based Organizations, appropriate dressing would be required. · Computer Skills.
