Introduction | Funding Opportunities | InternshipsIntroduction
One of the three goals of the NYNJ PHTC is to improve access to a diverse and culturally competent public health workforce.
The objectives to help us reach this goal are to:
- Increase the number of minority students graduating from the three schools of public health.
- Increase the number of MPH graduates from the three schools of public health working in local, state, and federal health agencies.
Beyond initiatives that the three schools of public health are implementing, this website provides an opportunity for current and potential students to actively engage in these important objectives.
In these pages, you can find information on relevant funding and internship opportunities.
While the Funding Opportunities page is directed at minority students, not all opportunities presented are restricted to minorities. In addition to links to existing databases for scholarship opportunities, this section highlights certain opportunities which we believe are especially important. There is also a section specifically on funding available for minority students from each of the three schools of public health.
You can take an active role in increasing the funding available for minority students in your institution. Included in the Funding Opportunities page are funding opportunities for institutions that you can bring to the attention of your university.
The Internships page provides links to internship opportunities at both public health departments and other public health organizations. In order to help improve the required practicum experience at all accredited schools of public health, we have provided samples of the forms used by the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University to coordinate and evaluate their students' practica.
