Fat Fighting Foods – You Are What You Eat

1507-06Gaining weight is primarily caused by the food that we eat. During our youth, we find it easy to eat just about any type of food we want. Dieting is beyond our minds, as we munch on some chips and lots of different junk food on a regular basis. But as we grow older we eventually become more aware of our ideal weight and start to notice the pounds packing in and the flab becoming more obvious than ever.

Gaining weight is primarily caused by the food that we eat.

Then before you know it, you start thinking along these lines:

“I need to lose weight!”

“I want to lose weight!”

“How can I lose weight quickly?”

But all of these wouldn’t have happened if you have just made yourself more aware of the type of foods you are eating. Some people don’t have the benefit of moving around that much and that’s most probably due to the fact that their everyday work hardly allows for such flexible movements. A typical employee would spend most of his or her eight hour shift in front of the computer or answering to calls. He may find himself in frenzy sometimes and rushing to the other office floor because of work-related emergencies but that’s not assured to happen every time.

Moreover, stress also increases a person’s drive to eat. Ever heard of the term “comfort-food”? It might have been better if these comfort-foods would be in the form of vegetable sticks or fruit plates. However, these foods come in hardcore sweets—cakes, ice cream, coffee with whipped cream, cupcakes…any type of food towering with fats and calories. So maybe the stress is satiated, yet the weight is packed on continuously.

It would be best if you substitute these comfort-foods with fruits and vegetables. Ever heard of the grapefruit diet? California studies actually proven that eating half of a grapefruit before every meal does a lot to reduce insulin levels. In the study which they have conducted, the group who ate grapefruit before a meal lost an average of 1.6 kg while the other group who didn’t participate in the grapefruit diet was only able to lose 0.3 kg. Grapefruit diet does not necessarily entail that you would eat grapefruit only and even for the rest of your life. No. It is not that extreme. You can insert this grapefruit diet instead on the slot you would otherwise reserve for junk foods and sweets.

High fiber diet is also another alternative which you may want to try. Wheat and oats are among the foods well-known for their high fiber content. Eating these types of foods help you lose weight because they can provide you with the right energy content which you need on a daily basis yet they easily burn upon usage unlike fats. What’s even better is that a high fiber diet can also help cleanse your digestive system. If you have problems with regular bowel movement, a high fiber diet can also help solve that problem for you.

Knowing the right type of food to eat really help a lot in maintaining not just a healthy weight but a healthier lifestyle as well.
